What is Neuroinfection?

The most common neurological infections are: Encephalitis, an inflammation of the brain, which can be caused by either bacteria or virus. Meningitis, an inflammation of the membranes that cover the brain and spinal cord, which can be caused by either bacteria or virus. Meningitis must be considered in any patient presenting with fever and headache with neck rigidity. Encephalitis present with lethargy, irritability, change in personality or behaviours and seizures. Most common neuro infections are bacterial, tuberculosis, parasites like neurocysticercosis, viral infections like herpes and fungal.
